How do I scan a document?

Open the Vault tab, tap the scan icon in the toolbar, and point your camera at the document. The app will automatically detect edges and capture the scan.

Can I import photos from my gallery?

Yes! Tap the Import button and select "Photos". You can select multiple photos at once. All imported photos are stored locally and processed for text recognition (OCR). Your data never leaves your device.

How do I add a deadline?

Open any document, scroll to the Deadlines section, and tap "Add Deadline". Choose the type (Cancel, Renew, or Pay), set the date, and configure reminders.

How do reminders work?

DeadlineVault uses iOS local notifications. By default, you'll receive reminders 30 days, 7 days, and 1 day before each deadline. You can customize this per deadline.

Is my data backed up?

Your data is stored locally and included in your device's iCloud/iTunes backup. For additional protection, you can export documents as encrypted Vaultpack files.

I forgot my export passphrase. Can you recover it?

No. We never store your passphrase. Encrypted Vaultpack files cannot be recovered without the original passphrase. Please store it securely.

Why can't I see my documents when my phone is locked?

DeadlineVault uses iOS File Protection. Your documents are encrypted and only accessible when your device is unlocked. This is a security feature.

Does the app use the internet?

No. DeadlineVault is 100% offline. All features work without an internet connection. Your data never leaves your device.

How do I transfer documents to a new device?

Export your documents as a Vaultpack file (Settings > Export), transfer the file to your new device (AirDrop, Files, etc.), then restore it in DeadlineVault.

The OCR didn't capture all the text. Why?

OCR works best with clear, high-contrast text. Handwritten text, unusual fonts, or poor image quality may affect results. You can manually add key facts if needed.
